Operations
Salva Dut coordinates and manages operations of the Company both overseas and in the USA. Boreholes can be drilled during the dry season, November to May in southern Sudan. Salva is there to supervise the drilling. He returns to Rochester, NY during the summer months, when he oversees the fundraising efforts and administration of Water for Sudan.
In 2005 we established a relationship with Rochester Rotary District 7120 in western New York, and through them, with the International Rotary Foundation. In the fall of 2007, Rotary District 5340 in San Diego became another partner.
In 2006 we purchased our own drilling rig and truck to haul supplies, eliminating the need for outside contractors, and reducing the per/well cost of operations. In September, 2007, with the support of the Rotary Club in San Diego, Water for Sudan ordered a second rig, which will enable a second drilling team to operate in southern Sudan by April of 2008 under the supervision of Dep Tuany. Meanwhile, Salva will return to Sudan in November, with Ater Thiep, newly hired foreman, to prepare for the winter drilling season.
